Overview of Development Support System

The third party's on-board programmers are also availavle for some of the products.

Sound Device Control Kit

The SDCK(Sound Device Control Kit) consists of both hardware (SDCB2) and software (Speech LSI Utility).
This development tool is used for editing sound data and also creating ROM data from sound data /writing ROM data into the device/listening evaluation for the LAPIS Semiconductor's speech synthesis LSIs.
*A reference board is necessary for a writing and listening evaluation of ROM data .
- Operations form waveform editing to speech playback are easily performed.
- All products of LAPIS Semiconductor's speech synthesis LSI are suported.
- Compact size (70mm×90mm*) * SDCB2 board
To utilize the Tool, your PC is required to meet the following
system requirements :
- Microsoft® Windows
・Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or later)
・Windows Vista* (Service Pack 2 or later)
・Windows 7*
*32bit (×86) / 64bit (×64) - Processor and memory:
・ Apply to the requirements of OS. - Hard disk area:
・Hard disk area with 1 Gbyte or more of free space - Audio components:
・ Windows-compatible sound card with a resolution of
16 bits or more and a speaker - USB port
Speech LSI Utility

Speech LSI Utility is a software tool supporting from editing sound data to creating ROM data. In addition, Speech LSI Utility controls writing ROM data into the device and listening evaluation of the OTP/Flash ROM by using SDCB2 (Sound Device Control Board 2 ) and the reference board of each speech synthesis LSI product.
- Input File format ( Main Window )
- RIFF Wave files (*.wav)
Sampling frequency : 4 to 96 kHz
Bit resolution : 16 bits, 8 bits
Number of channels: 1 ( monaural )
CODEC : Linear PCM
- AIFF Wave files (*.aif, *.aiff)
Sampling frequency: 4 to 96 kHz
Bit resolution : 16 bits, 8 bits
Number of channels : 1 ( monaural )
CODEC : Linear PCM
- PCM files (*.pcm)
Sampling frequency : 4 to 96 kHz
Bit resolution : 16 bits ( linear PCM ), 4 bits ( ADPCM2 )
Number of channels : 1 ( monaural )
CODEC : Linear PCM or ADPCM2
*Any file with two channels (stereo) is read after being converted to
monaural data before hand by the conversion function of the Tool. - RIFF Wave files (*.wav)
- Output Files ( Main Window )
- Motorola S files (*.s)
- Bin files (*.bin)
- Waveform editing ( WaveEditor Window )
- Cut, Copy, Paste, Fade In, Fade Out, Insert Silence, Normalize, EQ, Filter
- Control ( Board Controller window )
- Board controller can regenerate up to four channels at the same time.
SDCB2 ( Sound Device Control Board 2 )

The SDCB2 (Sound Device Control Board 2) can be used for all of LAPIS Semiconductor's speech synthesis LSIs.
The SDCB2 supports OTP/Flash writing and listening evaluation by connecting a reference board.
* The SDCB2 can not be used for writing in mass production. the sound's ROM
data needs to be written into the device at the factory of
LAPIS SEMICONDUCTOR, or written by using the on-board writer.
* The ML22Q553 / ML22Q563 / ML22Q573 / ML22562 / ML22563 / ML22572 /
ML22573 /
ML22594 operate at 5V, and others operate at 3V.
Reference board for Target Device

The reference board is used by connecting with the SDCB2 and enables writing OTP/Flash ROM data into the target device and listening evaluation using the actual speech synthesis LSI.
The reference board is also used by conncting with the microcontroller on the customer's system board for evaluation.
