Low Power Microcontroller with Speech Function

Description

The ML610300 series is a high performance CMOS 8 bit microcontroller with speech functionality, which applied RISC method 8 bits “U8 Core” of LAPIS Semiconductor.
High quality sound playback function and high power speaker amplifier are integrated as hardware, and speech output function is implemented by a monolithic. Sound quality is better and control easier than conventional middleware solutions, maximizing microcontroller performance.
LAPIS Semiconductor's U8 Core featuring high performance with low power consumption. This makes it ideal for use in a variety of applications, including alarms. Moreover, the power supply voltage supporting 3V/5V allows to use not only for battery driven products but also for AC driven products.

  • ML610(Q)34x
    • Standard type low power microcontroller integrating superior sound playback functions on a single chip.
  • ML610Q35x / ML610Q360
    • Built-in the self rewrite function which rewrites a part of built-in Flash memory by software and has 8 MHz high-speed clock.
    • ML610Q360 includes a 16Mbit P2ROM™ for sound and realizes sound playback more than 10 minutes.
  • ML610Q38x
    • Integrating sound playback function and LCD driver on a single chip

High performance & Low power consumption

  • One instruction per clock cycle process by three step pipeline RISC architecture
  • High efficiency command set such as high speed memory access bit operation and multiplication and division command
  • at STOP: 0.5µA
  • at HALT: 1.5µA

High quality sound playback block

  • Noise reduction by low pass filter
  • Speech algorithm: ADPCM2 and high quality sound data compression HQ-ADPCM

High power speaker amplifier

  • AB class amplifier of 1W at 5V

Support 3V, 5V

  • Power supply voltage range: 2.2V to 5.5V

  • By applying three step pipeline RISC architecture, the high performance 8bit CPU ”U8 Core” executing with one instruction per clock cycle is built-in.
  • Easy speech playback
    • Speech playback is easily implemented by only setting speech data into speech register.
    • Since FIFO for 4 words are installed in sound register, the interval for sound data requirement interruption can be set longer.

Sound Data Creation & Program Development

Speech LSI Utility

Sound data creation uses "Speech LSI Utility" which makes test-listening easier by "Reference Board" with built-In microcontroller. The development of application program uses "IDEU8 Integrated Development Environment" with an intelligible graphical user interface which makes more efficient of a sequence of programing to debugging. Moreover, using compact "On-chip Debug Emulator μEASE" and "Flash programming software (FWμEASE and MWμEASE)", writing sound data and application program into Flash memory, and mounting make evaluation possible.
