Improved waveform quality with output drivability control

PC100-compatible output drivers in consumer equipment and automotive systems were designed for multiple DRAMs connected in parallel. This requires a damping resistor and waveform adjustment.

LAPIS Semiconductor offers 4 models that enable 4-stage output drivability adjustment based on an extended mode register.

Waveform quality can be optimized by controlling output drivability, eliminating the need for a damping resistor and EMI countermeasures, reducing both component count and costs.

Video memory (FIFO) is a type of serial access memory used specifically for image data buffering. This eliminates address/refresh management as well as the complicated arbitration of Read/Write controls required with DRAM.

Simple control is enabled for easy frame processing.

In addition, unlike conventional systems neither an internal FIFO nor SDRAM controller are required, reducing costs significantly.
