ML610Q178是一种汇集多种周边功能于一体的高功能CMOS式8bit微控制器，如搭载8bit CPU nX-U8/100、最适于10bit逐次比较型A/D变频、计时、能控制IGBT(Insulated Gate Bipoler Transistor)的16bit PWM、同步串行端口、UART、I2C总线接口（Master）、电源电压检测电路及LCD驱动器等等。CPU nX-U8/100采用了3级流水线构成的并列处理方式，故可以进行1命令1时钟的有效命令执行。
而且、搭载片上调试功能，可以在基板实装的状态下进行软件调试及改写。
